I don't know what is wrong with me. I am so slow these days. I think once you start making music you don't get to pay attention to music the way you want to. All my friends listen to all those guys. El-P. Aesop. LoDeck. I just started finally getting around to these guys. I was stuck in 96...

I'm gonna mess around and get signed to that record label...

You ever see the def jux DVD, Revenge of the Robots, or something like that. It's pretty interesting, some really good stuff, some not so good stuff, and some strange paranoid shii. Overall pretty cool, minus the "super producer" jokes. Anyways, don't know where I was going with that. Definitely my favorite def jux would be Cannibal Ox Cold Vein. Amazing record.

A long time ago one of my boys put me on to him and the Revenge of the Robots but even then I was too slow to catch on. The sound is what has to catch me first. And at the time, if it didn't sounds like Primo, I didn't even give it a chance. And I am still like that to a degree. Lil Wayne for example, may be a genius, but I never give him a chance because he doesn't have the sounds that I like. Consistently. I like some of his stuff. I am just now finally getting around to listening to EL-P and the Weathermen and Lodeck, etc. I'm still a little to simple minded to really appreciate them but I am coming around. Gotta graduate from High School to really enjoy college right?

Gotta graduate high school to enjoy college? Then start with Company Flow, classic El P, that's what hooked me. Grimey dirty New York hip hop.
