Scratch Magazine

To try and get a little better at producing, I started trying to track certain producers. I started by going through all my Remix and Scratch magazine and cutting out the articles. Then I was going to start ranking the producers and trying to collect all their work. I got as far as to chop out all the articles I wanted and then put them in order and then put them in sheet protectors to fit into a binder.

But.... I never went back and started buying the music of the producers.

I think it was time well spent, but could have been better spent just chopping more loops and pumping out more beats. That is probably the best way to learn instead of just reading about producing. Actually going in and using my ears instead of my eyes.

But... when I get my paper up, I would like to eventually do something with the idea of tracking producers and promoting their works.

One day...

I used to do this. I got a whole binder full of this clippings in regards to recording, processing, etc....

Its still useful and it def cant hurt to learn something.
I found what helps me the most tho is critically listening to a joint that blows me away and trying to dissect whats going on it. That kind of mental preparation is really helpful for the next time u fire up the MP.

I wish there was more time. I would finish this project and maybe digitize it. If I could make money doing it, I'd even make a site that was dedicated to tracking dope producers.

Ohh well...
